C. G. Jung's archetypes and his discovery of the universal symbolism within the collective unconscious are like maps to lead the way through the landscape of our souls. His idea is similar to basic principles in homeopathy: phenomenologically viewing the patient's inner world as it is - even if it shows bizarre dreams or peculiar delusional ideas. The more specific the content of the dream or delusion the more essential and insightful they often are. But also common contents, pictures, and stories of dreams can, due to their individual combination, show an interesting path to deeper levels of the dreamer and help solving his upcoming conflicts.
In her second course in Berlin the American homeopath Jane T. Cicchetti presents extensive possibilities how to use Jung's method of dealing with dreams for our homeopathic work. At first she explains his model by a well-informed insight in the relation between the main archetypes. This gives a good overview of our inner soul structure. Jane uses the Mandala, an old and deep spiritual symbol mainly known from Buddhism, which Jung considered a symbol of wholeness, to show the structure of the psyche.

For most homeopaths dealing with their own dreams and those of their patients seems like a book with seven seals. Hasty looks into the repertory do not always lead to helpful insight. But if you really discover the secret of a dream, the highly individual, pure, and genuine experience of the dream will lead you directly to the inner core of the dreamer. It pulls the deep states of the soul to daylight, like a landscape where you can see psychic conflicts, extremes, and paradoxes. This symbolic world can help you to understand, "what needs to be cured". Then the appropriate homeopathic remedy will often appear by itself, to help alleviate the conciliation and integration of unsolved aspects of the soul.

Jane Cicchetti demonstrates her practical procedure by working with three attendees´ dreams. Her attentive and most careful way of communicating with the dreamers is impressive. It is not as important for her to get a fast idea for the medicine as to methodically allow the dreamer to gain awareness of the meaning of his or her own dream. This method stimulates the dreamer's insight into the meaning of the dream in relation to his or her life.
The seminars main objective is to encourage us in our own dream work, to learn a practical way to work with dreams and to accompany patients on their journey to the deeper reasons of their malady. For Cicchetti, dream interpretation is not just a translation of symbols by apodictic conclusions or homeopathic rubrics but an active therapeutic encounter with the dreamer. Für die meisten Homöopathen stellt der Umgang mit den eigenen Träumen oder denen ihrer Patienten ein Mysterium mit sieben Siegeln dar. Auch der eilige und oft verlegene Blick ins Repertorium führt nicht immer zu hilfreicher Erkenntnis. Wenn man sich jedoch ernsthaft bemüht, das Geheimnis des Traums zu ergründen, erweist sich die höchst individuelle, stets unverfälschte und authentische Traumerfahrung als direkter Weg zum innersten Kern des Träumers. Sie bringt die tiefe Befindlichkeit der Seele ans Tageslicht, meist als bildhafte Landschaft, in der psychische Konflikte, Gegensätze und Paradoxien zum Ausdruck kommen. Diese reichhaltige symbolische Welt kann entscheidend zum Verständnis dessen beitragen, "was das zu Heilende ist". Die passende homöopathische Arznei erschließt sich danach oft wie von selbst und hilft, die Versöhnung und Integration ungelöster Seelenaspekte zu erleichtern. Ähnlich einer Landkarte vermitteln C. G. Jungs "Archetypenlehre" und seine Entdeckung der universellen Symbolik des "kollektiven Unbewussten" Orientierung auf dem Weg durch diese seelischen Landschaften. Die Vorstellungen Jungs stimmen mit der Grundhaltung der Homöopathie darin überein, die innere Welt des Patienten phänomenologisch so zu betrachten wie sie ist - gerade auch dann, wenn sie mit bizarren Träumen oder seltsamen Wahnideen einhergeht. Je eigentümlicher ihre Inhalte, umso essenzieller und aufschlussreicher können sie für das symbolische Verständnis sein. Doch auch ganz "gewöhnliche" Inhalte, Bilder und Traumgeschichten weisen aufgrund ihrer individuellen Verbundenheit einen spannenden Pfad zu den tieferen Schichten des Träumers - und zur Lösung anstehender Konflikte.
In ihrem zweiten Berliner Seminar vermittelt die amerikanische Homöopathin Jane T. Cicchetti weitreichende Möglichkeiten, um Jungs Traumarbeit für Homöopathen nutzbar zu machen. Sie erläutert zunächst verschiedene Grundlagen seiner Lehre.
Dazu gehört ein kenntnisreicher Einblick in die Beziehung der einzelnen Archetypen zueinander. Er bietet einen Überblick unserer innerseelischen Struktur. Als ihrer Gesamtheit kann sie durch das Symbol des Mandala verdeutlicht werden, dem vor allem im Buddhismus eine tiefe spirituelle Bedeutung zukommt.
Anhand von Live-Arbeiten mit den Träumen dreier Seminarteilnehmer demonstriert Jane Cicchetti ihre praktische Vorgehensweise, in einer ausgesprochen acht- und behutsamem Grundhaltung im Umgang mit dem Träumenden. Es geht ihr dabei weniger um schnelle Ideen für Arzneien als um schrittweise Erkenntnisse und berührende Momente für den Träumer selbst. Solche Erkenntnisse können einen kraftvollen Impuls für den weiteren Prozess auslösen.
Das Hauptanliegen der Referentin ist, Mut für die Arbeit mit Träumen zu machen, einen praktisch handhabbaren Umgang mit Träumen zu vermitteln und sich mit PatientInnen gemeinsam auf die erkenntnisreiche Reise zu den tieferen Gründen ihrer Krankheit zu begeben. Traumdeutung heißt für Cicchetti nicht einfach nur simple Übersetzung von Symbolen in apodiktische Aussagen oder homöopathische Rubriken, sondern eine aktive therapeutische Begegnung mit dem Träumer, die seine seelischen Konflikte in der aktuellen Erfahrung würdigt und so zu Lösungen führen kann.

Jane Tara Cicchetti
Die Referentin
studierte Homöopathie bei Murphy, Eizayaga und Vithoulkas, später Psychoanalyse nach C. G. Jung. Seit über 25 Jahren ist sie als Homöopathin (CCH) in eigener Praxis tätig. Sie leitete die »Five Elements School of Homeopathy« in New Jersey, erforschte und lehrte international Verbindungen zwischen Träumen, Symbolik, Alchemie und Homöopathie. Für ihre Integration Jungscher Psychologie in die homöopathische Arbeit ist sie international bekannt. Ihre Arbeit beruht auf einem lebenslangen Interesse an Wandlungs- und Heilungsprozessen und einem intensiven Studium Jungscher Psychologie unter ihrem Mentor, einem Jungschen Analytiker. Heute lebt und arbeitet sie in Asheville, North Carolina.
